HOW TO PRACTICE SELF-CARE WHEN USING SOCIAL MEDIA

1. Feeling under pressure?

Remember, sometimes people pretend to be someone they are not online, and it’s hard to know if they are telling the truth.

Don’t feel pressure to accept friend requests from strangers, share private information, images or videos.

2. Stay safe, wherever you are

You can change the privacy settings on your social media platforms to help you control who sees your information – and your live location.

Be sure to check your location setting on your devices to see what apps have access to your location

3. Take a break

Give yourself some dedicated time away from social media for your mental health.

It's important to understand the power of taking a break and how it can have a positive impact on your mental health.

Prioritise Friends, Family and Real Connections

Social media doesn’t have to be bad. It’s how we use it that matters.  Be mindful with your use of social media to stay in touch with friends and cultivate a sense of community online.

●      Declutter your feed – unfollow any accounts that do not bring you joy.

●      Switch your feed from β€˜For You’ to β€˜Following’ – take control back of what you’re seeing. Focus on connecting with friends, rather than brands or content creators.
